Why fly private to Cancún

  • Cancún International is one of Mexico's busiest airports, especially during spring break and New Year. Private flights use a separate executive terminal with its own customs and immigration, and your car waits close to the aircraft.

  • The Riviera Maya has a dense cluster of top resorts: the Hotel Zone, the Mayakoba complex near Playa del Carmen and the boutique hotels of Tulum. A private arrival keeps the trip simple from door to door.

  • Spring break, usually in March, is the tightest window for aircraft heading to Cancún from the Northeast and Florida. We recommend booking six to eight weeks ahead for those dates.

  • For families and groups, a single chartered jet avoids connections and keeps everyone together, with room for luggage, strollers and dive gear that airlines often charge extra for.

  • The cenotes, the ruins at Chichén Itzá, Tulum and Cobá, and day trips to Isla Mujeres or Cozumel are all within reach. We can arrange private guides and early starts that beat the tour buses.

Airports and FBOs

Cancún International (CUN) sits about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the Hotel Zone and about 50 kilometers north of Playa del Carmen. Private flights use the executive terminal, separate from the commercial terminals, with customs, immigration, fuel and catering on site; clearance is often quick when paperwork is filed in advance. Typical drive times: Hotel Zone about 20 minutes, Playa del Carmen about 45, Mayakoba about 50 and Tulum around 90 minutes to two hours. Tulum International (TQO) is an option for the southern coast.

Flying home or onward from Cancún

Return flights from CUN take about 1 hour 30 minutes to Miami and around 4 hours to New York, depending on winds. Departures clear Mexican immigration at the executive terminal. The first days of January and the last Sunday of spring break are the tightest departure windows, so we confirm your return when we book the outbound. Onward flights to Los Cabos or Mexico City are easy to add.

Frequently asked questions

Where do private jets land in Cancún?

Private jets use the executive terminal at Cancún International (CUN), separate from the commercial terminals. Customs and immigration are handled there, and your driver can usually meet you close to the aircraft. Clearance is often quick when passenger details are filed in advance, which we coordinate with the operator.

How long is a private jet from Miami to Cancún?

From Opa-locka (OPF) or Miami to Cancún (CUN), the flight usually takes about 1 hour 30 minutes on a light or midsize jet. From Palm Beach (PBI) it is a little longer. It is one of the quickest international private trips from South Florida.

How long is a private jet from New York to Cancún?

Teterboro (TEB) to Cancún (CUN) usually takes about 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours 15 minutes nonstop on a midsize or super-midsize jet, depending on winds. Larger groups often choose a super-midsize or heavy jet for cabin space and range.

How much does a private jet to Cancún cost?

It depends on your departure city, the size of the jet, the dates and whether you fly one way or round trip; spring break and New Year are the most expensive weeks. See the market estimate on this page for a guide. Your quote confirms the exact price.

Should I fly into Cancún or Tulum for the Riviera Maya?

Cancún (CUN) has the most established executive terminal and the widest ground transport options for the whole coast. Tulum International (TQO) is closer to Tulum and the southern Riviera Maya. We compare both for your aircraft, group size and hotel before recommending one.

When should I book a spring break private jet to Cancún?

Spring break, usually in March, compresses aircraft availability from the Northeast and Florida. We suggest booking six to eight weeks ahead, ideally as soon as your resort is confirmed. With less than four weeks' notice, the right aircraft for your group may be hard to find.
