Private Jet to the Bahamas
A private jet to the Bahamas is one of the shortest international trips from the United States: Nassau is about 40 minutes from Miami's Opa-locka airport, and the Exumas and Eleuthera are only a little farther. Many islands have little or no airline service, so a private flight is often the simplest way in. Altrove Jets arranges flights with FAA-certificated operators from South Florida, New York and beyond, coordinates customs and passenger filing, and can pair the trip with a yacht charter through the islands.

Itinerary
Why fly private to the Bahamas
Nassau is roughly 40 minutes from Opa-locka by jet, often less time than a drive across South Florida in traffic. A long weekend in the islands can start the same afternoon you leave the office.
Many Out Islands, including parts of the Exumas, Harbour Island and Cat Island, have limited or no airline service. A private flight to the nearest strip is often the only practical way to arrive on your own schedule.
Staniel Cay in the Exumas has a short airstrip suited to turboprops and small aircraft. We match the aircraft to each runway, so island-hopping stays efficient and within each strip's limits.
Island-hopping, such as Nassau to the Exumas to Harbour Island, is hard on airline schedules but simple by private aircraft. We plan the legs, the timing and the ground transfers as one itinerary.
Entering the Bahamas by private aircraft is straightforward when it is well prepared. We coordinate APIS passenger filing, customs and the FBO arrival with the operator at each Bahamian airport you use.
Airports and FBOs
Lynden Pindling International (NAS) in Nassau is the main gateway for Nassau, Paradise Island, Cable Beach and Lyford Cay, with private FBO facilities. Exuma International (GGT) near George Town serves the Exumas, about an hour from South Florida. North Eleuthera (ELH) is the airport for Harbour Island, followed by a short water taxi. Staniel Cay (TYM) has a short airstrip for turboprops and small aircraft only. Some smaller strips are not ports of entry, so the first landing may need to be at a customs airport.
Flying home from the Bahamas
Return flights to South Florida take about 40 minutes to an hour, depending on the island. We coordinate departure clearance and US customs on arrival at an FBO with customs service. Many clients keep the return date open and decide once they are on the island, and midweek empty legs between Nassau and South Florida come up regularly.

Frequently asked questions
How long is a private jet from Miami to the Bahamas?
From Opa-locka (OPF), Nassau (NAS) is about 40 minutes. The Exumas (GGT) and North Eleuthera (ELH), the airport for Harbour Island, are about an hour. Actual times depend on winds and the aircraft, and smaller islands may need a turboprop rather than a jet.
How much does a private jet to the Bahamas cost?
It depends on the island, the aircraft size, where you start and whether you fly one way or round trip; holiday weeks are busiest. See the market estimate on this page for a guide. Your quote confirms the exact price, including any island-hopping legs.
Can I island-hop the Bahamas by private jet?
Yes. Itineraries such as Nassau to the Exumas to Harbour Island are common. The key is matching the aircraft to each runway, since some strips only take turboprops, and clearing customs at an airport of entry first. We plan the legs and the timing.
Do I need a passport to fly to the Bahamas by private jet?
Yes. The Bahamas is an independent country, so every passenger needs a valid passport, and you clear customs on arrival and again in the US on return. We coordinate APIS passenger filing with the operator. Check the entry rules for your nationality before you travel.
Can I fly from New York directly to the Bahamas?
Yes. Teterboro (TEB) to Nassau (NAS) takes about 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes nonstop on a midsize or super-midsize jet. Many New York clients skip South Florida and fly straight to the islands, with customs coordinated before departure.
Can you arrange a yacht charter with my Bahamas flight?
Yes. Many clients fly into Nassau or the Exumas and board a yacht for island-hopping. Altrove's yacht charter team arranges the boat, and we time the flights to the embarkation and disembarkation islands so both parts fit together.
