Destination guide — St. Moritz, Swiss Engadin
Private Jet to St. Moritz
A private jet to St. Moritz brings you to one of the Alps' oldest and most elegant winter resorts, in the sunny Engadin valley. Engadin Airport (SMV) in Samedan, a few minutes from town, is a high-altitude airport suited to smaller jets, so most transatlantic trips from New York, Miami or Palm Beach land first at Zurich or another nearby airport. From there you continue on a smaller aircraft, by helicopter or by car. Altrove Jets plans the full route and the connection.

Itinerary
Why fly private to St. Moritz
Samedan puts you a few minutes from St. Moritz instead of a long mountain drive. When the aircraft and weather allow, it is one of the most direct ways to arrive in an Alpine resort.
The winter calendar is unique: polo and horse racing on the frozen lake, the Cresta Run and a busy social season from Christmas through February. Flying private lets you fit the trip around these weekends.
Mountain weather changes quickly. Having Zurich or Lugano planned as alternatives, with a car or helicopter ready, keeps the trip on track if Samedan is closed.
St. Moritz is also a summer destination, with hiking, golf and lakes in a famously sunny valley. Summer arrivals are typically easier to arrange than peak ski weeks.
Airports and transfers
Engadin Airport (SMV) in Samedan sits at high altitude in a narrow valley. It accepts turboprops and smaller jets, with operating limits that depend on the aircraft, crew experience and weather; large-cabin transatlantic jets normally do not land there. Zurich (ZRH), about two and a half hours by road, is the usual arrival for flights from the United States, and Lugano (LUG) is around two hours away. Helicopter transfers from either airport are possible when weather allows.
Flying home or onward
Departures usually reverse the arrival: a smaller aircraft, helicopter or car to Zurich, then a large-cabin jet home to New York or Miami. Some clients combine St. Moritz with a few days in Milan, Paris or on the Riviera before crossing the Atlantic. We plan chalet checkout and the mountain transfer around your departure time.

Frequently asked questions
Can a private jet land in St. Moritz?
Yes, at Engadin Airport (SMV) in Samedan, a few minutes from St. Moritz, but only certain smaller jets and turboprops can operate there because of the altitude and mountain approach. Larger jets land at Zurich or Lugano, and passengers continue by car, helicopter or a smaller aircraft.
How much does a private jet to St. Moritz cost?
It depends on the aircraft size, one-way or round trip, season and repositioning, and the Christmas and February weeks are the busiest. The onward connection from Zurich is quoted separately. See the market estimate on this page; your quote confirms the exact price.
How long is a private flight from New York to St. Moritz?
Teterboro to Zurich on a large-cabin jet usually takes around eight hours, depending on winds. Add roughly two and a half hours by car to St. Moritz, or much less by helicopter when weather allows. From Miami, the flight to Zurich is about an hour or two longer.
When is the best time to visit St. Moritz?
December through March is the ski season, with the busiest weeks around Christmas, New Year and the February events on the frozen lake. January can be quieter with excellent snow. Summer, from late June to September, offers hiking, golf and lake activities.
How does St. Moritz compare to Courchevel and Verbier?
St. Moritz is known for its long winter tradition, grand hotels and events on the frozen lake. Courchevel offers the huge Trois Vallées ski area and its own altiport, and Verbier is known for off-piste skiing and an easy route from Geneva. We can plan any of the three.
